What I Offer
Individual Therapy
We'll have an initial meeting where we get to know each other and set some goals for treatment, then we'll meet on a schedule that makes sense. A lot of people start off meeting weekly then reduce to every other week after a month or two, but that's a decision we can make during our first appointment. I lean heavily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy but I also incorporate somatic techniques as well as techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. My work is always trauma-informed and focuses on building on what’s already working for you.
I practice from a person-centered perspective, which mean you’ll be in the driver’s seat. You’ll set the pace, decide where to start, and always have the last word when it comes to what’s working.
Individual Therapy Intensives
Therapy intensives are extended sessions, usually 2-3 hours long but sometimes as long as 4 hours. Intensives work best for clients who want time to do deep, intense work around difficult or complex issues, or clients whose schedules make weekly sessions difficult. Some clients also choose an intensive at the beginning of our work together, to get things "jump started," then continue with regular weekly or bi-weekly individual sessions.Therapy intensives ask us to settle in and get comfortable. We’ll set an agenda ahead of time to make sure we stay on track and use our time wisely. We’ll also work together before the intensive to make sure you have what you need for an extended session - sour candy or textured fidgets for grounding, tissues, water or tea, and anything else you may find supportive.
Couples Therapy
My work with couples is centered around separation and divorce discernment. I create a neutral space for couples to talk honestly about what's going on in their relationship and come to a conclusion together about whether they want to continue as a couple. Couples therapy is offered either in weekly or bi-weekly sessions or as a series of monthly intensives.Just like my individual work, my work with couples is trauma-informed and strengths based. I encourage couples to be their authentic, messy selves with each other and restart communication that’s broken down. Couples engaged in therapy can expect to have work to do between sessions, either individually or together.
You’re not broken in need of fixing, you’re hurt in need of healing. We can make that journey together.
